      Beacon

 Art course study at Beacon is divided into a first semester of 2D content and a second semester of 3D content. In each content area students explore a range of media, techniques and subject matter.  Understanding is broadened of historical/cultural context, reflective evaluation and interdisciplinary conections.

6th Grade Art


Sixth grade 2D activities include 3D drawing techniques, peace poster design, impressionist landscape painting, pastel expressionist face drawing, Multimedia autumn night scene and motif color wheel painting.

 

3D sculpture activities include Notan mask design, Chinese dragon puppet, Plaster action figure, Clay animal plaque. Paper mache gargoyle minuture.

7th Grade Art
 
Seventh grade 2D activities include Multimedia illuminated initial design, Animal close up painting, Peace poster design, Radial leaf painting, Super bucks design, Pair portrait drawing, Complementary color wheel painting.
 
3D activities include White paper relief mask, Animal stabile, Plaster figure sculpture, Paper mache personal symbol hand, Clay Moai miniatures.


 

8th Grade Art


Eighth grade 2D activites include Matisse name collage, Cartoon drawing, Plein air pastel landscape, Autumn still life drawing, Pop art portrait painting, Jungle landscape painting, Color wheel tessallation painting.

 

3D activities include Foil mask design, Paper mache animal sculpture, plaster figure sculpture, Clay sculputre, Paper mache portrait.

 Specific projects and their sequence may vary from one marking period to another. New ideas for optimal learning experiance are explored on a regular basis.
